Author's Notes: holy crap you guys. i'm so sorry this took so long. the whole thing just fell silent in my head for a while, and then i let myself get distracted with other projects.

i'm overally pleased with how this came out, despite the gaps in time that occured while i was writing. (origonally, i started this the same day i posted chapter 17, then lost my momentum, worked on it a little more in october just after i got fired and then didn't pick it up again until today). those of you who read IDW's transformers comics will recognize a name that will pop up in the middle of this section. he's not given a lot of background in the comics (read, none at all), so i stole him and shamelessly villified him. he's likely to pop up again next chapter and then not be mentioned again until sometime after Rodimus becomes Prime.
